On October 29, 2025, a commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery located in the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, in honor of the 102nd anniversary of the Republic Day of the Republic of Turkiye.
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgun, staff of the Turkish Embassy, Turkish businessmen operating in Azerbaijan, representatives of academic and educational institutions and the general public, as well as a delegation led by Mursel Rustemov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan-Turkiye Businessmen Association (ATIB).
In his speech, Ambassador Prof. Dr. Birol Akgun stated that the proclamation of the Republic on October 29, 1923, was the greatest manifestation of the Turkish nation’s will for freedom and independence. He emphasized that preserving this valuable legacy and passing it on to future generations is a moral duty of every citizen. Highlighting the unshakable brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkiye, he noted that this relationship is a clear reflection of that spirit and stressed that efforts to further strengthen the bond between the two nations will continue.
Afterwards, flowers were laid at the graves of the martyrs, at the “Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial,” and the “Eternal Flame” monument.
