A commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial located in the Alley of Martyrs, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Victory Day of the Republic of Türkiye.

On August 29, 2025, a commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial located in the Alley of Martyrs, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Victory Day of the Republic of Türkiye.

The event was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün, embassy staff, Turkish businessmen operating in Azerbaijan, representatives of academic and educational institutions, members of the public, as well as a delegation led by the Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Businessmen’s Association, Mürsəl Rüstəmov.

Ambassador Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün stated that the glorious victory achieved on August 30, 1922, under the command of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and through the heroism of Turkish soldiers, marked a crucial milestone in the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye. Emphasizing that the Azerbaijani martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of their country played a significant role in laying the foundation of the motto "one nation, two states" with the same spirit of determination and unity, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün noted that efforts to further strengthen the brotherly ties between the two countries will continue.

Afterward, flowers were laid at the graves of the martyrs, as well as at the “Turkish Martyrs' Memorial” and the “Eternal Flame” monument.
