A commemorative ceremony was held at the “Two States, One Nation” Park on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Türkiye.

On November 10, 2025, a commemorative ceremony was held at the “Two States, One Nation” Park on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Türkiye.

 

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün, embassy staff, Head of the Representation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Azerbaijan Ufuk Turqaner, Turkish businesspeople operating in Azerbaijan, representatives of academic and educational institutions and the public, as well as a delegation led by Mursal Rustamov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan–Turkey Businessmen Association.

 

Following a minute of silence in memory of Atatürk and the playing of the Turkish National Anthem, the “İstiklal Marşı,” a wreath was laid in front of the monument in the park on behalf of Ambassador Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün.

 

In his speech, Birol Akgün emphasized that Atatürk is a symbol of independence, freedom, and modernity not only for Türkiye but for the entire Turkic world. He noted that Atatürk’s principle “Peace at home, peace in the world” remains one of the main pillars of Türkiye’s foreign policy today and continues to serve the establishment of peace, cooperation, and stability in the region.

 

Afterwards, participants laid flowers at the monument of Atatürk and paid tribute to his memory with deep respect.
