On October 29, 2025, an official reception was held at the Gulistan Palace in Baku on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.
Organized by the Embassy of Türkiye in Azerbaijan, the event was attended by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova, along with members of parliament, state and government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, leaders and members of international organizations, representatives of non-governmental organizations, including a delegation led by Mürsal Rüstamov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye Business Association, as well as figures from culture and the arts, and members of the media.
At the opening of the event, Türkiye’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgün, read a congratulatory letter from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of the holiday.
In his subsequent speech, Ambassador Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün quoted Atatürk’s saying, “Peace at home, peace in the world,” emphasizing that Türkiye remains committed to the principles of peace and stability in international relations and values strengthening friendship and cooperation among nations. The ambassador noted that, based on the principle of “One nation, two states,” Türkiye will continue to consistently support Azerbaijan’s rightful position on the international stage.
Sahiba Gafarova, conveying the congratulations and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev on Republic Day, highlighted that the existing relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye are not limited to political and economic cooperation but are also built on shared history, culture, and spiritual values. Recalling Türkiye’s political and moral support during the Patriotic War, Gafarova emphasized that this support is eternally remembered by the Azerbaijani people and has elevated the fraternal relations between the two countries to the highest level.
The event continued with a reception and concert program.
