On February 11, 2025, the Board of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen Union met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Prof.Dr. Birol Akgün. After an introduction to the board members, ATIB’s Chairman Mürsəl Rüstəmov informed the ambassador about ATIB’s activities over the past 20 years in enhancing both economic and socio-cultural relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan. Following this, Prof.Dr. Birol Akgün highlighted how, despite being neighbors and sharing a common heritage, the two nations had been alienated from one another for many years. He noted that after Azerbaijan regained its independence, especially in recent years, the efforts of both countries’ heads of state have led to a brotherly bond, which also serves as an example for the wider Turkic world. The Ambassador emphasized that businesspeople have important responsibilities in continuing this political course and expressed the Embassy’s readiness to collaborate with entrepreneurs and civil society institutions. At the end of the meeting, ATIB presented Prof.Dr. Birol Akgün with commemorative gifts on behalf of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen Union.
