On October 3, 2025, the 2nd National Competition Forum was held, organized by the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by members of parliament, representatives of government agencies, business associations, and the private sector, including Chairman of the ATIB Board Mursel Rustemov, Board members Rana Mammadova and Ilgar Nuri, as well as ATIB member Lamiya Bayramova.
The forum aimed to facilitate discussions on competition policy in the modern economic environment, regulation of natural monopolies, current challenges in the field, protection of public interests, and the formation of effective and fair market relations.
Speakers at the event included Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, Member of the Milli Majlis and Chairman of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee Azer Amiraslanov, Chairman of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control Elnur Baghirov, and President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Azerbaijan Republic Mammad Musayev.
The speeches highlighted the activities of the State Service, the importance of creating a favorable competitive environment for attracting foreign investment and diversifying the economy, and the stimulating role of competition policy in the development of small and medium-sized businesses, ensuring economic inclusiveness, and improving social welfare.
The adoption of the Competition Code was emphasized as a strategic step toward creating a fair and transparent economic environment, ensuring equal opportunities for entrepreneurs, and strengthening legal certainty. It was noted that the topics discussed at the forum would significantly contribute to identifying future priorities of competition policy and improving dynamic and supportive regulatory mechanisms.
