On April 10, 2025, the "Turkic World Civil Society Conference" was held in Ankara, organized by the “EcoEurasia” Foundation, the “Silk Road” Public Diplomacy Organization, and the Turkic World Civil Society Cooperation Union (TÜRKSİT).
The main goal of the event was to emphasize unity in the Turkic world and highlight the importance of NGOs. Participants included Azerbaijani MP Dos. Dr. Tənzilə Rüstəmxanlı, Turkish MPs Prof. Dr. Kürşad Zorlu (Ankara), Prof. Dr. Filiz Kılıç (Nevşehir), and Şamil Ayrım (Istanbul) – also chairman of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship Group, along with Fahreddin Kaya from the Ministry of Interior’s Directorate for NGO Relations, Sayot Yusuf – Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY, Fuad Uçar – Secretary General of the World Union of Ahıska Turks, Mükrəmin Şahin – Head of the Crimean Turks Cultural Association, Gürsel Baran – Chairman of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, and other public figures.
Representing the Azerbaijan-Turkey Business Association, board member Nigar Alasgarova spoke at the panel titled “The Importance of Civil Society Institutions in the Turkic World and Their Role in Inter-organizational Relations.” She emphasized the responsibility of NGOs in building unity, understanding common values and history, and called for stronger post-event goals. “Just as interstate cooperation is important, so is cooperation among NGOs,” she noted, adding, “It’s time to build a strong Turkic world united under civil society leadership and a shared vision.
